STORIES FROM BEHIND THE LENS,
40 YEARS AS A PHOTOJOURNALIST
Rick is a very famous, world renowned photojournalist who has photographed, among many other famous people, eight of our presidents. He will give a fascinating talk of his exploits throughout the years.
Join us as Rick shares some of his favorite images and the stories behind his favorite photos. Rick will explain how the images where created, what cameras and lighting equipment was used. He will also show some of the equipment used.

INCREDIBLY IMPRESSIVE BIOGRAPHY
Rick Friedman has been a photojournalist, portrait, travel and model photographer for over 4 decades. Based in Boston, he travels the world for numerous
publications, corporations, advertising assignments and film and television productions. Rick has photographed 8 US Presidents and many other world leaders including the Pope, the president of France and the president of Russia. He has photographed hundreds of politicians, academics, authors, celebrities, musicians and models.
His published work has appeared in Time, National Geographic, Newsweek, New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Nature, USA Today, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, Stern, Discover, and on ABC, CBS, CNN NBC, Discovery Channel, Saturday Night Live and many other publications and productions around the globe.
He has produced over 75 book and magazine covers and has worked on 20 film productions and has work in the permanent collections of Harvard University, Oxford University and the museum. Rick is a Tamron Lens Ambassador and a Savage Universal Ambassador.
Rick, known for his practical, creative lighting, has been teaching his “Location Lighting Workshops” aka “Lighting and Laughing” for the past 20 years. He has taught workshops at PhotoPlus, WPPI, Imaging USA, SWPP(London), Xposure (UAE), PPoC (Canada), White House News Photographers Association, CanAm Photo Expo, numerous PPA events, and many other workshops. Rick has appeared on Creative Live, B&H TV, Photo Plus, “Sharjah Today” (UAE, done in Arabic, that was interesting), Sky TV, Austrailia, The Photographer Show, Photofocus, Tamron Recipes “The Spin It Social Hour” and numerous other podcasts and webcasts.

“Photography and the Art of Storytelling”
Every picture tells a story and every visual storyteller has the capability to tell theirs uniquely. You are what makes your images unique. Tell your stories and you’ll find your voice.
In this seminar we’ll explore ways of developing your personal vision and style. We’ll discuss the difference between angle of view and point of view. The frame is a stage so what populates and animates it? Different storytelling structures will be compared and contrasted giving you more skills to work with. We’ll clarify different strategies for creating compelling relationships between images through arranging and sequencing with the goal of developing a cohesive body of work that makes a statement.
